Frequently asked questions.

Have questions? I’ve got answers.

I know preparing for a portrait session can feel overwhelming—what to wear, where to go, how it all works. This FAQ is here to help you feel totally confident and ready before you step in front of the camera. If you don’t see your question here, feel free to reach out—I’m always happy to help!

1. What should I wear for my session?

Wear something that makes you feel confident and comfortable. Solid colors work well, and avoid busy patterns or logos. For senior portraits, bring a few outfit options to show different styles (casual, formal, school spirit, etc.). This is something we can discuss further on our intake call.

2. How long does a session typically last?

Senior portrait sessions usually last 1–2.5 hours depending on the package you choose. Headshots can be quicker - around 30 to 60 minutes for individual sessions, and 60-90 minutes for more in-depth or group sessions.

4. Where will the session take place?

For most situations, I’d recommend a suggested location based on the look you’re going for. I’ll help you pick the perfect backdrop.

5. How soon will I get my photos?

You’ll receive a proof gallery within 2 weeks. After you make your selections, final edited images will be delivered within another 1–2 weeks. If you need them sooner, I offer an option to receive your finished products in less than 7 days for a rush charge of $150.

6. Do you retouch the photos?

Yes, all selected images are professionally edited. I offer natural retouching—skin smoothing, blemish removal, color correction, and light enhancements—while keeping you looking like you.

7. Can I bring someone with me to the session?

Of course! Whether it’s a parent, friend, or sibling, having someone there can make the experience more fun and relaxed.

8. What happens if it rains or the weather is bad?

No worries—I can reschedule your session at no extra cost. I always keep an eye on the forecast and communicate with you ahead of time. If the date can’t be moved, I’ve got you covered - we can move into my Fairport Village studio for a clean, professional look. Or, we can embrace the stormy vibes for a moody, artistic, and unique photo shoot outside.

9. Do you offer professional prints or just digital files?

All my packages currently offer print release, which means you get to download full resolution photos and print wherever you’d like!

10. How do I book a session?

You can book right through my website by clicking the “BOOK NOW” button (found below or at the top of each page in the header). You can also contact me via email or web form to schedule your session. A deposit is required to secure your date. If you aren’t sure exactly which date and time you will need at the time of booking, you can either email me, or you can use the online booking tool with an approximate date and time and simply let me know on our intake call that you aren’t solid on the date.

11. What happens after I book?

Once you’re booked and ready to go, I will contact you to schedule a quick call to discuss your customized plans. I’ll find out a bit about you and what you may be looking for (if you aren’t sure, don’t worry! I can take it from there). We’ll solidify locations and time frame, and I’ll answer any other questions you have.

12. What if I don’t know how to pose?

No problem at all—that’s what I’m here for! I’ll guide you through natural poses that suit your personality and flatter you. Most clients come in nervous and leave feeling like pros.

13. Can I include props or personal items in my photos?

Absolutely! Props like sports gear, instruments, books, or even your car can add a personal touch to your session. Let me know what you’d like to bring so we can plan around it.

14. Do you offer hair and makeup services?

While I don’t offer these services directly, I can recommend talented local artists who specialize in camera-ready looks.

15. Can I use my headshots for LinkedIn or professional branding?

Yes! My headshot sessions are designed to give you versatile, polished images perfect for LinkedIn, business websites, and personal branding. In addition, the print release that comes with the cost of your session allows you to use these images as you wish.

16. What’s your cancellation or rescheduling policy?

Life happens—I get it. If you need to reschedule, please give me at least 48 hours’ notice. Deposits are non-refundable but can be transferred to a new date if rescheduled within a reasonable timeframe.

17. What forms of payment do you accept?

I accept cash, check, Venmo, or credit card - whatever works for you!

18. I’d like a different type of photo shoot (such as family, graduation, newborn, etc.) - do you offer that?

I have extensive experience with family, newborn, and even wedding photography. While I am focusing on portrait photography, shoot me an email and we can discuss a custom package. I can also provide portfolios for specific genres upon request.
